Kaiju No. 8: Narumi's Week at Work Short Anime Is Set to Be Released on September 5, 2026

MUST COMIC - "Narumi's Work Week," a spin-off of the anime "Kaiju No. 8" (presented as a short anime series rather than a single episode), will begin streaming on TOHO animation's YouTube channel on September 5 at 8:00 p.m.
The series consists of four episodes, with the remaining three scheduled to be released on September 12, 19, and 26, respectively.

"A Week in Narumi's Life," which focuses on Gen Narumi, the commander of the First Unit renowned for his overwhelming prowess, was announced last December alongside the decision to produce the "Final Chapter" of the TV anime series. The story concept is by Tsukasa Watanabe, who created the comedy spin-off manga *Kaiju No. 8: RELAX*.
"Kaiju No. 8" is based on the manga by Naoya Matsumoto (published by Shueisha). The synopsis provided by VIZ Media is as follows:
Kafka hopes to one day fulfill the promise he made to his childhood friend Mina: “I’ll join the Japan Defense Force and fight alongside her.” However, while Mina was busy hunting kaiju as the captain of the 3rd Unit, Kafka was content to settle for a job cleaning up after her battles.
One day, due to a sudden change in regulations, Kafka was granted eligibility to join the Defense Force, and he resolved to enlist once again. However, there was one problem: he was on the Defense Force’s target list under the codename “Kaiju No. 8.”
The manga adaptation of this work began serialization in *Shonen Jump+* in 2020, and the 16th and final volume is scheduled for release in September 2025.
