After a two-week hiatus following Chapter 1189, Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece returns to Weekly Shonen Jump with Chapter 1190 this week. This latest chapter picks up right after Imu-sama attempts to end Luffy's life with the Xingtian Axe; Scopper Gaban suddenly appears to intercept the lethal strike. However, can the "left wing" of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger truly hold off the King of the World?

At the end of One Piece Chapter 1189, Imu-sama was poised to end Monkey D. Luffy's life using one of the legendary weapons left behind by the King of the World: the Xingtian Axe. It was then that Scopper Gaban surprisingly managed to withstand that lethal attack.
To block Xingtian's strike, Gaban reinforced his axe with high-level Haoshoku Haki, much like he did when reinforcing the giant lock in front of Luffy.

When Luffy rises again, it is entirely possible that the Straw Hat will finally unlock the true potential of his Nika form, mirroring the moment he awakened Gear Fifth against Kaido. However, reaching that point may require Luffy to witness a painful event—such as Gaban suffering a severe defeat at the hands of Imu-sama.
Chapter 1190 also appears set to provide updates on other battles. Thanks to weapons bestowed upon them by Imu-sama, Sommers and Killingham will hold the upper hand against Zoro and Sanji. This situation will force the Straw Hat Captain's "two wings" to break past their limits and elevate their power.
At this juncture, true to Gaban's earlier words, Sanji is expected to awaken his dormant Haoshoku Haki. Similarly, Zoro—fueled by the immense power radiating from Enma—will enhance his abilities, much like he did during his clash with King in Wano Country.
